Open Question: What is the future of sports?
I’m concerned that the mass production of technology is ruining the world of sports. Sports owe their a lot of their popularity to people’s boredom, such as in small communities that didn’t have a lot to do. But today, where you can get a mobile phone that holds thousands of songs and has video games on it… I don’t know, I guess it just seems that the people won’t look to sports for entertainment or as a way of life as much as in the past. No where is this more evident than in Major League Baseball; not only does it have this to deal with, but it also has to compete with other sports industries, such as the NFL. Plus, many of the players are not even Americans anymore. Why spend the money on going to a baseball game or football game when you can get instant entertainment on social networking websites or YouTube Poop videos, very cheaply? Is anyone else seeing this? Is anyone else aware that this is where things are gravitating?
