Tuesday, April 28th (All times eastern)

LA Angels of Anaheim (7-11) at Baltimore Orioles (9-11), 7:05 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Los Angeles - Joe Saunders (2-1, 3.51) Baltimore - Adam Eaton (1-2, 7.04)

Veteran right-hander Adam Eaton goes for a second victory since returning to the American League tonight when the Baltimore Orioles host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the first test of a brief two-game series at Camden Yards.

The much-maligned Eaton, whose earned run average ballooned to 5.12, 6.29 and 5.80 in the last three seasons after consecutive 11-win efforts with San Diego from 2004-05, joined the Orioles from Philadelphia to begin 2009 and was promptly raked for 17 hits and 10 runs over just eight innings in his initial two starts.

He settled down nicely in outing No. 3, however, surrendering six hits and two runs in seven innings, while striking out nine and walking none against the Chicago White Sox on April 23.

He was ripped by the Angels in one start in 2008, allowing 12 hits and six runs in five innings in a 7-1 Phillies loss on June 20.

For Los Angeles, lefty Joe Saunders looks for consistency in an uneven season.

The 27-year-old went win-loss-win in his first three starts before an ugly no- decision on April 22 in Detroit, in which he was roughed up for seven hits and five runs over five innings of a 12-10 Angels loss.

Overall, in 25 2/3 innings, he’s given up 20 hits and 10 runs.

Against Baltimore in 2008, Saunders was 2-0 in three starts with a 4.08 ERA in 17 2/3 innings.

On Monday in Baltimore, Michael Young hit a two-run home run to help the Texas Rangers take a 6-4 win over the Orioles in the finale of a four-game set.

Brian Roberts drove in two runs while Robert Andino went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Orioles, who have dropped three of four and four of six.

Jeremy Guthrie started on the mound and gave up three runs on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts in five innings of work. Matt Albers (0-1) was charged with the loss as he was tagged for three runs on three hits with two walks while recording just two outs in the sixth inning.

Meanwhile, in Anaheim on Sunday, Howie Kendrick went 3-for-5 with a homer and finished with a career-high four RBI, as the Angels crushed the Seattle Mariners, 8-0, to salvage the finale of a three-game set at Angel Stadium.

Gary Matthews and Bobby Abreu both had two hits and an RBI for the Angels, who won just their third game in nine tries. Torii Hunter went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Juan Rivera had a solo homer.

Jered Weaver (2-1) took the win as he hurled seven innings of three-hit ball while fanning five and walking just two.

The Angels won six of their nine meetings with the Orioles last season and is 6-3 in their last nine visits to Baltimore.
